The lawyer's concept was based thru works, due to his upbringing and lense. Jesus message of grace was hard to understand for the Jews who grew up working for rewards

We see the Bible thru our lenses, hence all our different interpretations of verses, sometimes, jus one verse

Too many ppl see the bible thru a religious lenses. They'll consider it irrelevant in their life.

How u see everything around u is called ur worldview

Parables entice the surface ppl, but give sth more to those who seek deeper

The spirit is the true meaning behind the letter of the law

The lawyer only knew the letter of the law, not about the spirit of the law

Jews believed in a triumphant messiah, not a suffering one.When Jesus entered Jerusalem, he was on a donkey. Donkeys are beasts of burden... as Jesus entered Jerusalem, he entered as one that would be the carrier of burdens

Jesus was introducing the kingdom of heaven. Of, not in. Jews understood the origins of heaven, not some place in the sky

Acts 1:1-8

The disciples believed the glory of Jesus was his resurrection, as the prophets spoke of glory. It was not, it was to come in time later
