Now is the time When heaven blends With earthly saints
The world resounds As angels sing Our God reigns
I give my all to You I give my all to You
From heaven's throne Your river flows To this land
And on this rock Foundations lay Here we stand
I give my all to You I give my all to You
Pouring out this treasure You gave In Your promises our hearts turn brave I will arise and lay down this sacrifice As we're building Your house on high
Your kingdom come Your will be done On earth as in heaven
Those are the lyrics of the main theme song for our Arise and Build campaign, we sang our hearts out on that day in service. Some people had tears in their eyes after making their pledges and worshipping God.
My church began the Arise and Build 2 campaign three months ago. My church originally proposed to raise 17 million dollars but in the pledges we gave, the total exceeded 22 million. My church is a generous church indeed and every cent is accounted for, and we've got the ISO certificate to prove it.
I pledged a certain amount I felt that would test me but was still attainable to give. These thoughts died out as the first month (November) we were to give arrived. I wasn't in trouble financially, but giving would mean starving myself for most of the coming weeks. I fast and sometimes skip some meals to give more to God, but starving myself for weeks? Well, I wasn't too sure I could deal with that. But God is great all the time, my mom blessed me with just enough that I could spend to eat and still give for my first month.
This phase repeated itself for the next few months I was giving. I'd panic because I didn't have enough to give for the pledge, then out of nowhere, I'd get blessings from somewhere (assuredly the main source is God) and it would be enough to fulfill my pledge for that month. He did it in the previous Arise and Build, and He's done it again merely a few hours ago. This is no mere coincidence, I mean everytime I'm in need He's there. Everytime I pray He answers, and although He may not be early, He's never late.
There's only one "problem". God overdid Himself many times. I mean in all four of the gospels they recorded the feeding of the 5000. With five loaves of bread and two fish, He fed 5000 men, not including the women and children, that leads to around 15 000 people overall. Plus with twelve basketfulls left. Then when Jesus commanded Peter and his fishermen to catch the fish, nets broke and their ships nearly sank. For the countless people who've given testimony's, they give amounts extraordinary to them but get back huge returns, thousands of dollars and even millions. For me I get (sometimes) material things which are above what I can afford and in the cases of the Arise and Build, amounts which originally panic me. God is too good.
