. Loving Your Life And Loving Yourself}
With the start of the new year, many of us have resolutions and plans for the rest of the year. However, what are these plans and how are we going to achieve them? Some of us would want to do better in school, others find a good paying job, and I'm sure many would want to lose weight and train up. Planning is no problem, we speak what we want. But how to we achieve it? There is no short cut, and you must have the right attitude in trying to achieve your goal. Basically, you must learn to love yourself and your life to start properly. For what is the point of trying to find something better if you already do not enjoy your life? It is meaningless.
Loving Your Life And Loving Yourself
Dr Joyce Meyer 7 January 2006
Psalms 107:26 "They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths; their soul melts because of trouble."
The verse speaks of how people rise and fall. Surely we will have disappointment when we fail in something, and as the verse says, their soul melts. Imagine the pain you feel, so bad that it is described as your soul melting! Indeed it hurts, but this is no reason to stop loving yourself and your life. I challenge you, find someone who has never failed or experienced pain in their life, if you can, find me. I doubt it though. Because God says all are born with sin and assuredly I say to you, with sin, there will always be hurt and problems everywhere.
Jesus answers a lawyer in Matthew 22:36-39 "Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the law?" Jesus said to him, "Your shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second one is like it: 'You shall love your neighbour as ou love yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
We are always in our comfort zone, whether we love our lives or not. There is a part of us that does not want to move onwards and do something more. But if you are not enjoying your life, do not go blaming the world and people for what predicament you are in. Take a look at yourself instead, and many a times, you will find it is truly you yourself which is the source of all your problems. Thus, facing the truth is necessary if we are to see change. The truth is? Yourself. As the world changes, you must adapt, and so have many churches around the world done, with the charismatic movement all over the world. Believer or not, you will have to change if you are going to survive in this time. But there are also people who stay in their comfort zone as they are having currently enjoyable lives. Sure, enjoy if for the time being, but after a while, you will have to change as well. Having change is hard, but staying the same is worse.
Now, change is gradual, rarely will things change overnight. So changing yourself gradually will be easier than making a whole new you. Same goes to Christians who are slowly changing for the better, they surely will not change overnight, but you will definitely be a much more better person sooner. People will also notice the change.
Fear is also a major part of why people do not want to change. They are scared of what they will face when they change, no doubt, as you go on to new levels, a new devil will arise to cause problems. But so what? Can the devil compare himself to God? Pray to God, and let Him grant you strength to go on forward. Sometimes shame from your friends will also cause problems. But there is a big difference of being ashamed of something you did wrong and being ashamed of yourself. God will help you, but only if you will help yourself first. For if He does anything you do not want help in for your life, that would be immoral. God is not immoral, He gives us free will and choice. He has no obligation in the things we choose to do ourselves. We are free to abuse it and that is how sin came into the world in the first place. We could blame God for not warning us about the serpent who tricked Eve into eating the fruit. But look carefully, it was Eve's choice to eat the fruit. It is just as we should look at ourselves and see what we did wrong.
There is so much power in little things. Think about it. Try to think of the last three gold medalist winners in the Olympics for each sport, or name the last two Grand Slam champions. You might remember a name or two, probably more if you really supported the games. Then think about ten friends who have supported you throughout the past year. Name the five teachers who really put effort into teaching you. Easier? Now, the world champs are great, they are the best in their fields, and they stand out internationally, but how long will that last? But the friends, teachers and all the people who you know personally, all they did was just help one small person in this huge world. But you remember that much better. Indeed there is so much power in little things.
Jesus did little things as well. In John 21:1-6, 8-12. Jesus had risen from the dead and had told the disciples to fish. They caught a multitude of fish and then Jesus cooked their breakfast. Think of the irony, Jesus has risen from the dead and He's cooking breakfast for the people who ran away from Him when he was captured? He has done the greatest miracle, saved the entire world yet He's cooking breakfast for His disciples. How humble can you be than that? A great example for us, for we should be humble, just as He was.
